A Membrane Nitrogen Generator works by separating gases using a polymeric membrane that allows one gas to pass through while minimizing the passage of other gasses. It accomplishes this by applying pressure gradient throughout the membrane materials. The membrane contains over a million fibers that can selectively remove oxygen and water vapor from the air entering the membrane module. Meanwhile, nitrogen flows continuously as the end product, where you can use it for production.
How Does an Industrial PSA Nitrogen Generator Work?
An industrial PSA Nitrogen Generator works by using a series of pressure swinging absorption processes. Under high pressure, gases will be more attracted to solid surfaces. This is called being absorbed. When the pressure is reduced, the absorbed gasses are then released. The PSA process is used in industrial settings to separate specific gases from a mixture of gases. Because different gases are attracted to different solid surfaces, the system works to pinpoint gases to be separated. When the cycle is nearly complete, and the bed collecting the specific gases reaches its capacity, it can be regenerated. The process reduces the pressure, releasing the absorbed oxygen and allowing the operator to run another cycle to continue producing high purity nitrogen gas.
